Once upon a time we found a magical recipe box. Here's the story:
When we started out on our Saturday adventure, we didn’t plan on driving out
to Prairie Grove. There are a few
little thrift stores east of town that we threaten to stop at every time we
drive past them. Our plan was to
hit those few stores and then head home with our treasure. On our drive out highway 16 we passed
several shops, but they all looked scary and a little stressful. One even had kids playing on inflatable
playgrounds in front of the store.
It was all a little more than we could take, so we kept on driving.
We got to this cute little thrift store on Highway 16
called All My Treasures, so we stopped.
Here, we wandered around for a while, but when we left for home, we
thought Daisies and Olives (another cute little thrift store) would be a great
place to end our adventure. But
when we got to Prairie Grove and parked, we saw another little store called The
Trading Post.
We hadn’t planned to
go in there, but for some reason, it looked like an interesting place to
visit. We found lots of
interesting things—little birds, rocking chairs—but the most interesting little
treasure was in the back of the store, on the back of a clearance shelf.
There sat a little green box with a few
little note cards in it.
They were
recipes.
Of course, they HAD to
come home with us. And the next
logical thing was to cook through them.
So that’s what we’re doing.
Once a week, we’re taking a recipe from the box and cooking it using the
ingredients she prescribes (or as close as we can find), until they’re all
gone.
